At about 12pm our power suddenly went out. Of course we are in Africa and this tends to be one consistency in our area of town. However, the power usually comes back on after a matter of minutes or on the rare occasion an hour or so. Not today though. There has been logging on our road for several months now and they have knocked down our phone lines once before but no damage was done. After several phone calls to the electricity board they informed that the loggers had knocked down our power lines and due to some reason I could not make out due to their accents they will be unable to fix the line until Wednesday. That’s if I am lucky. I politely told the man…”No! Oh, no. I am not going without power for 2 days”, in my sweetest annoyed southern accent, “What do I have to do to get them here now, now!” Quickly he gave me the number to the logging supervisor, which I immediately called and he promised that he was working on the situation. To which I informed him that it was his fault and that I would be calling him back at 5pm to see what progress he has made. I like I am really going to make them do something. LOL! Yeah right!
On top of all of this my supervisors are gone to Kenya for a conference and will back on Thursday. I can’t wait!!! Not just because I miss them and love them, but because I don’t want to be the only missionary in Swaziland. Kimber left yesterday for Jo-burg where she and the other new mission family, the Oakley’s, are flying out of for Lusaka, Zambia to enjoy their 40/40 experience. Our team leader left yesterday along with Kimber and the Oakley’s to accompany them to Jo-burg and make sure all goes well. So, I am it for all of Swaziland…well, for the Baptist Mission I am.
Please pray for patience, protection, and wisdom.
